Safe Routes to School Community Coordinators Wanted
Center for Safe Routes to School is looking for Community Coordinators
SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL
COMMUNITY COORDINATORS
Invitation to Activists
- Are you passionate about creating safer routes to school in your community?
- Do you want a more bikeable and walkable community?
- Do you want children to be more physically active?
If so, become part of our Safe Routes to School – WA
team!
The Center for Safe Routes to School in Washington State (a partnership of the Bicycle Alliance of Washington and Feet First) needs a community organizer in Clark, Kitsap, Pierce, Snohomish, and Spokane Counties to promote and assist with its Safe Routes to School programs. The coordinators will begin Spring 2007. We are looking for people already involved in their community and have $1,000 available to support each coordinator.
Responsibilities
The Center wants to help your Safe Routes to School vision come
true! We want to work with you on a
variety of tasks, including:
- Coordination of trainings, school and community events, and campaign promotion.
- Presentations to school staff, PTAs, and other organizations to mobilize parent and community volunteers.
- Relationship
building via phone calls and meetings, media relations, and developing
outreach materials.
Coordinators’ expenses will be paid in order to attend the
Safe Routes to School Best Practices Summit on May 23rd, 2007 in
Lynnwood. It is an excellent opportunity
to meet other members of your community, develop and strengthen partnerships,
and learn about available resources.
